The Art of Glassware: Choosing with Style and Purpose

In my world at Be Venice, I believe that every detail matters expecially when it comes  to beauty, atmosphere, and the way to choose to live each moment.

Whether you are hosting a private tasting in the heart of Venice or setting the table for an intimate dinner, knowing how much to pour into each glass is a subtle art that elevates the entire experice.
This guide will walk you through the essentials of wine etiquette, helping you serve with confidence, style, and a touch of Venetian charm.

The mise en place:
The mise en place, according to tradition, dictates that the first rule for placing glasses is to set only those on the table that will actually be used. And, in any case, it's advised not to place more than five, except for very formal occasions.

How to arrange them:
Etiquette dictates that glasses should be placed diagonally starting from the right, in front of the guest, in increasing order of size.
The water glass should be aligned with the tip of the knife, and immediately ot it's right, the wine glasses should be placed.

Flute Glass: elegant and refined, the flute glass is designed to elevate your sparking wine experience, Its slender, elongated bowl encouranges the development of a fine and persistent perlage, while the narrow opening concentrates the wine's delicate and sophisticated aromas, enhancing every sip.
Perfect for enjoying Champagne, Prosecco and metodo classico sparkling wines in true Venetian style.

Red  Wine Glass: with its wide and generous bowl, is designed to elevate every aromatic nuance. Its open shape encourages oxygenation, allowing the wine's fragrances to fully unfold. Thanks to the broad diameter, the aromas are directed straight to the nose, amplifying the bouquet and offering an intense refined sensory experiece.
Perfect for savorig full-bodied red wines, celebrating their complexity and character.

White Wine Glass: features a smaller bowl than its red wine counterpart, designed to preserve the wine's freshness and aromatic delicacy. Its narrower rim minimizes air exposure and helps maintain the ideal temperature, preventing the wine from warming too quickly.
Perfect for to highlight the vibrancy and elegance of white wines.

Cocktail Glass: a true icon of sophistication, the cocktail glass is the star of legendary drinks like the Dry Martini, Manhattan and Cosmopolitan. Its inverted conical shape, gracefully perched on a slender stem, enhances every creation, whether spirited or alcohol-free.
Ideal for mocktails too, it brings a dash of glamour to every sip.

Balloon Glass: is designed for age-worthy red wines those patiently matured in cellars and capable of delivering unforgettable emotions once uncorked, Its wide bowl ensures optimal oxygenation, allowing the wine to reveal its full aromatic and flavor complexity.      Perfect for: intense structured reds, fine spirits like Cognac or elegant cocktails served in large-bowle glasses for dramatic presentation.

Coupette Glass: the term coupette comes from the French word coupe, meaning "cup" or "goblet". This elegant glass is typically used for cocktails that are blended with ice rather than served over ice cubes. The result is a smooth, sorbet-like texture that enhances both the flavor ad presentation of the drink.
Ideal for: frozen cocktails and refined creations, the coupette adds a touch of sophistication to any sipping experience.

Liqueur Goblet: Small in size but rich in character, the liqueur glass is designed for savoring spirits with intensity and elegance.
Ideal for: serving digestifs such as amaro, grappa, or herbal liqueurs, this glass allows the aromas to concentrate, enhancing the fasting experience. Its narrow shape encourages slow sipping, making it ideal for after-dinner moments or refined pairings.

Last but not least:
Liqueur Glass: The shottino in Venice is a symbol of post-meal conviviality often shared with stories, laughter, ad the warmth of Venetian hospitality. A simple gesture that carries centuries of tradition.

I hope this guide has inspired you to savor every toast with awareness and style. Becouse behind every glass lies a story, and behind every sip....a taste of Venice.
